Investigating the Gen-Z Sex Recession
In collaboration with Playboy, Julie, and the Kinsey Institute, Dr. Rhonda Balzarini and colleagues conducted a large-scale study examining the romantic and sexual lives of Gen Z adults in the United States.
Drawing on data from more than 2,300 adults ages 18–29, the study explores how young adults are navigating sex, dating, relationships, and intimacy in a rapidly changing social landscape. The project examines topics including sexual desire and behavior, dating and relationship experiences, sexual health and contraception, financial and social barriers to intimacy, technology and AI, and attitudes toward sex and relationships.
Findings from the study are being shared through scientific publications, conference presentations, and public-facing pieces developed in collaboration with Playboy and the Kinsey Institute.
